Posted on Jan 13 2018 - 9:05pm

A reminder that today Sunday January 14th is the last day to turn in Camp Lassen deposits for those that are heading off to Camp Lassen this summer!!! We have Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos signed up for a great adventure as they head off to Camp Lassen for session # 2 July 11-14, that's 4 days and 3 nights of FUN!!! For more information about Camp Lassen click on http://www.gec-bsa.org/camping/camp-lassen/63197 .This is an opportunity for the Scouts to build life long memories but we need to get the deposits in for each camper very soon. The total cost for each camper is $200 and a non refundable deposit of $50 is due by January 14 with the balance due by February 25. The deposit can be dropped off at Elizabeth Ruygt's GoldRivMom@comcast.net at 11603 Prospect Hill Drive in Comstock Village or at Kirstin Kline's kjul33@gmail.com 11957 Old Eureka Way to save your spot. Scouts can go on their own or a parent/grandparent can join them on the adventure. This is an opportunity for the older Scouts to get a taste of camping on their own, under the guidance of Pack 281 leaders, as they prepare for Boy Scouts when they will be camping without family members. If you have any questions please contact one of the leaders. Cost for both Scouts and adults is $200. If your Scout and/or you are planning on attending Camp Lassen please register your intent on the pack's website.

Pinewood Derby ~ January 26

Posted on Jan 13 2018 - 9:05pm

A HUGE thank you to Dan Jones for putting on the pinewood derby clinic!!! Remember as your Scout works on his car there are some very specific rules that must be followed, especially if he is fortunate enough to make it to the Capitol City District derby. The cars must be made from the BSA car kit that the pack provided along with the BSA wheels and axels that come in the kit. The cars can not weigh over 5 oz and it is helpful for the speed to get as close to that weight without going over the limit. To give the Cub Scouts more opportunity to win a recognition we do have some design categories! If you want some ideas we suggest googling pinewood car designs or look at Pinterest. Here are the design categories and some ideas for them:
