Annual Creek Week Clean-up Project!

Posted on Apr 12 2017 - 11:37am

Complete your Community Service Requirements and help to beautify our area creeks! We will be at Cordova Creek (Dawes Street near Dolecetto Drive).  We will be collecting trash (wear gloves!) near the top banks, not in the concrete channel itself.  Scouts Do a Good Turn Daily!  Please RSVP so we can have an accurate headcount.  The clean up is usually completed in about an hour. Please download and complete one of our volunteer waivers. Thanks to Matt Knifton for leading this activity.  Please RSVP so Matt knows who will be attending.

Scouting for Food - 3/5/17 - 11 AM-4 PM

Posted on Feb 24 2017 - 1:00pm

“Scouting for Food” is next Sunday! This is our biggest community service project of the year and one that we need everyone’s help with. On Sunday March 5 from 11 AM to 4PM we will be knocking on doors in Gold River to collect canned and boxed food items for the Cordova Food Locker which serves the needy and homeless in our local area. We ask everyone to arrive at Gold River Discovery Center at 11 AM, with Scouts in class A, to receive their instructions and a map to their assigned area in Gold River. If you can’t make it by 11 AM that’s fine come when you can and we will send you out to join up with another group. It is helpful if you can bring a reusable bag to take to the door to collect the food in, a wagon if you have one and boxes to put in cars for the collected food. A sack lunch and water is also great for when your Scout needs a break. Questions? Contact Elizabeth Ruygt GoldRivMom@comcast.net or text 916 402-4861.
