Malakoff Diggins plans
Instead of trying to meet at the school and caravan to Malakoff on Saturday, we're going to just meet up at the campground. Aim to arrive at 2pm. Alan Prince has room for two people in his car if anyone wants to carpool up -- contact him if you want to carpool. I also have room for two, but I'm leaving at 9am on Sunday, so if you ride with me, you'll need to come home a bit early.
When you get there, you'll need to go to the Group Camping site. It's near the Chute Hill Campsites 1-12. After we get camp set up we'll go for a hike to visit the ghost town and the mining areas. the we'll come back to camp for dinner and some games.
Make sure to bring camping gear, chairs, flashlights, and anything you need for your breakfast and dinner. Families are responsible for their own dinners and breakfasts. We'll have a campfire and a portable camp stove, so if you want to cook something for breakfast or dinner, bring a pan or two along. We'll have hot water for making coffee and hot chocolate in the morning. We'll provide the hot chocolate (bring cups), you'll need to bring your own coffee.
Sunday morning we'll wake up, have breakfast and pack up to head home. I need to be home by 11 or so, but anyone that wants to hang around Malakoff on Sunday is welcome to.
It takes about 2 hours to drive there. Maps and directions are here.
Any other questions, please ask.
