Sincere Condolences to the Brock Family

Posted on Jul 3 2015 - 4:22pm

As many of you have heard in the news, Alden Brock, a member of our older son's troop, as well as 3 of our pack's den chiefs (Christian, Gabriel, and Logan), passed away in a tragic event at Philmont Scout Ranch in the mountains of New Mexico on Saturday, June 27th. Alden and his fellow scouts and leaders were on a 12-day backpacking trek at this 250,000 acre Boy Scouts of America High Adventure Base. At 4:30 AM a flashflood swept through their campsite near Indian Writings staffed camp. The surge of water moved equipment, tents, and scouts and leaders from their site. Four of the troop's scouts and a Philmont staff member were swept away in the rushing waters, mud and debris. Three of the scouts and the staff member were found safe. Unfortunately Alden did not make it and was found a significant distance from the campsite. Our hearts go out to the Brock family during this difficult time. The troop has established a Brock Family Fund to help out with expenses. If you would like to donate to this fund please send them to Troop 380 (Brock Family Fund), C/O Don Dier, 9216 Starina Way, Sacramento, CA 95826. Please join us as we send our thoughts and prayers to the Brock family and Troop 380. ~Vincent and Louise

Need Volunteers for Popcorn Show and Sell!

Posted on Jun 27 2015 - 7:52am

Our pack's sole fundraiser, Trails End Popcorn, is coming up in September.  We need volunteers to help make our Show and Sell a success.  For our new families, Show and Sell is when each scout sells popcorn in front of a local store for 2 hours - boys are partnered up with a buddy at each entrance to the store.  As this is our pack's only fundraiser, we rely on its success to pay for the majority of our pack events and advancements throughout the year. If you can help with picking up/returning popcorn from the Council warehouse in September, replenishing product during the site sales, counting $/reconciling sales, please email Louise (arias.louise@gmail.com). THANK YOU!
