Need a Popcorn FUNdraiser Chair(s)

It's almost time for our annual Pack 281 FUNdraiser!  Our Pack relies on this single fundraiser to help pay for events, advancements, and items for our Scouts throughout the year.  We have been able to keep our annual dues at the same level for years due to our outstanding success with this one fundraiser.  We need someone (or partners! :) to chair this fundraiser. We have all information (and past years forms, emails, etc.) on how to do this - just need someone to carry it out!  Please email Louise if you are interested:  arias.louise@gmail.com Here are the things that the Chair(s) would be responsible for:

Family Overnight Safari at the Sacramento Zoo - 8/5-6

Register at saczoo.org/overnight - as of 7/13, there were 7 spaces left! This year, our "Fall Overnight" will take place on August 5-6 at the Sacramento Zoo at their Family Overnight Safari! Be sure to register early before spaces are filled! This fun-filled educational evening will guide you through all that our nighttime Zoo has to offer.This is a perfect opportunity to see animal behaviors you may not have seen before.  For more information:  http://www.saczoo.org/overnight#details

Committee Chair and Quartermaster Volunteers Needed

Are you looking for a way to help Pack 281? We need you! Committee Chair (oversee pack events, update weekly eBlast, pack website/PackMaster - a few hours/week) and Quartermaster (maintain pack storage unit on Coloma and transport materials to and from events - a couple hours/month) positions open.  No experience needed - we will help you learn anything needed! BALOO Training - 7/23 @ Cordova Church of Christ

Did you know that Packs are required to have at least 1 BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) trained adult on all Pack overnighters, but it's best to have several so overnighters don't have to be canceled for not having an trained adult. The Capital City District will be having BALOO training Saturday July 23, 2016 at Cordova Church of Christ 10577 Coloma Rd, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.The class will cover the basics of planning, cooking, equipment, campfire planning, health & safety. Register is online at BALOO Training.  Pack 281 will reimburse registration for any adults who would like to get trained!  If you have any questions please contact Kim Perry-Reed at kperryr@gmail.com or 916-203-5711

Annual Pizza/Swim Pack Meeting - July 10th 5-7 PM - Orangevale Community Center Pool (6826 Hazel Avenue) Please RSVP by 7/5!

Join us at the Pack 281 Summer Pizza/Swim Pack Meeting!  Please RSVP by 7/5 and let us know how many will attend from your family so we can order enough pizza. Please bring a salad, fruit/veggie side, or dessert to share!  5:00 PM:  Pizza dinner; 5:20 PM: Pack Meeting/Awards - Wear Class B uniforms with your swimsuit/trunks. Once the Pack activities end, you can stay with your family and swim until 7:00 PM  Please note: All youth, including siblings, must swim under the supervision of their own parent or legal guardian. There will also be a lifeguard present. If you can help pick up pizzas, please email Louise (arias.louise@gmail.com) - greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Pack 281 new Tiger Nate - we are happy to have you join the Pack! We know you have been waiting to join our pack like your big brother, Bear Scout, Alex!  Earn your "recruiter" badge! Please encourage any (2016-17) 1st & 2nd graders to join the pack! We'd love to see our Tiger and Wolf dens grow!
